A non-denominational
Christian church for all Simply put, "non-denomination" means we are
not affiliated with a large denomination. We are formerly of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, NY.
Non-denomination does not mean we
believe whatever we want to believe. |
Of course space does not permit us to list everything we believe, but
we'll tell you that we do believe that the bible is the only inspired, infallible Word of
God. We believe in the virgin birth of the Eternal and only Son of God. We believe in the
Son of God, Jesus Christ -- that the atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial and
substitutionary death of Jesus -- in His bodily resurrection -- in His priestly
intercession -- in His soon return -- in the eternal existence of Father, Son and Holy
Spirit -- that salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and received by personal faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We're new in your
neighborhood and we'd like to say hello
We're Shawnee Tabernacle, a non-denominational Christian church located at 16 Carriage
Square, Rt. 196 in Tobyhanna, PA. You can call us at 717-894-9650 to say hello, if you'd
like to. We meet at our church on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday nights at 7
p.m. Our pastor's name is Reverend Dennis Bloom.
If you think that only
perfect people go to church, then you'll be surprised if you visit us. We're certainly not
perfect.
Shawnee Tabernacle is a church that is made up of regular people from all walks
of life. You can find someone who works as a plumber, or a nurse, or a chiropractor or as
an insurance agent, in addition to people who are out of work at the moment and asking God
to help them to find a job. You'll find married couples, single parents, and single
people. Some of us live on the East Shore, and some of us live on the West Shore.
You may not know it when you look at us, some of us used to be addicted to life destroying
things like drugs, pornography, anger and hatred, but we're not anymore. Some of us have
done things that made us feel like God could never forgive or love us, but we don't
believe that anymore because He does love and He has forgiven. We have been overwhelmed
with joy to find that Jesus was telling the truth when He said that no one who puts their
faith in him will be disappointed. There is hope in Jesus.
To be perfectly honest we're introducing ourselves because we'd like you
to visit our church... but even in you don't visit, we'd like to be able to pray for you
if you'd allow us to. At Shawnee Tabernacle we have found that God actually hears people
who call out to Him. And not only does He hear, but He answers.
Jesus loves the little
children, and so do we.
We believe that children (and adults) should always know that their heavenly
Father cares for them and that He loves them with an everlasting love. That's why
everything we do with the children here at Shawnee Tabernacle points them to love. Every
time we meet, on Sundays and Wednesdays, we have something planned for the children. To
tell them stories about how God loves them. To teach them Bible verses and lively songs.
To pray with them, and remind them that Jesus loves them now and He always will. And we
know that...
Jesus continues to love
them as they turn into teenagers.
Our teenagers are encouraged to live as followers of Jesus. Our Youth Group is
not just a place to have fun activities (although we do have some fun times together) but
a place to learn to call on God. We remind them that Jesus was a teenager at one point and
He really understands the challenges. God loves to hear from teenagers as well as from
children and adults, and our teenagers are encouraged to be "real" followers of
Christ.
